What is the Bakers' Ministry?

This ministry provides baked goodies to individuals and families the first time they visit Burnt Hickory. If you love to bake, this is the ministry for you!

How much time is required?

Volunteers serve on a rotating basis. You will be responsible for baking 3 dozen goodies approximately 3 or 4 times a year.

What happens if I am unable to provide the goodies on my scheduled Sunday(s)?

You should contact the Bakers' Ministry Director so that other arrangements can be made.

What food items should we bake?

We need baked goodies that can easily fill 3 gift bags such as muffins, brownies, cookies and loaf bread (3 dozen total). We will put 1 dozen baked goodies in each bag or 1 loaf of bread per bag. (Please label each item and specify if nuts are included.)

Where do we take these baked goodies?

On your scheduled Sundays before the 10:30 service begins, you will take the goodies to the room on the left behind the Welcome Center which is posted “Bakers' Ministry Drop-Off.” At this time, you will sign 3 “Baked by ________” cards and leave these with your baked goods. (These cards will be placed in the bags along with a welcome message, Wednesday night dinner invitation and a questionnaire about our church.)

Who actually delivers the baked goods to the new visitors?

Our Life Groups are responsible for the delivery of these goodies on a rotating basis (approximately 3 times a quarter). We encourage those involved in this ministry to volunteer (when your class is scheduled) to help deliver the gift bags to the visitors.

What are my duties?

  • When you become a volunteer, you will receive a schedule for baking. On your scheduled week, the director will call or e-mail you to remind you to prepare the 3 dozen goodies for that Sunday.
  • On that Sunday before the 10:30 worship service begins, take these goodies to the room behind the Welcome Center posted “Bakers' Ministry Drop-Off.”
  • At this time, sign 3 “Baked by _________” cards and turn these in along with the goodies.
  • On the weeks that your Life Group is assigned the gift bags, be prepared to help deliver them to the new visitors.
